Secure, Contain, Protect. That is the mission of The SCP Foundation.
SCP-682 is a large, reptile-like creature of unknown origin. Enormous, it has four legs, a tail, head, razor sharp claws, and sharp teeth, giving it a vaguely crocodile-like appearance. The body of SCP-682 is constantly changing, quickly growing or decreasing in size as it consumes or sheds material. It gains energy from anything it ingests, whether that be organic or inorganic. This creature has incredible regenerative capabilities, making it impossible to destroy at this time.
There are currently no means available to destroy SCP-682, therefore it is contained in a 5m x 5m chamber with 25cm reinforced acid-resistant steel plate lining on all inside surfaces. The chamber itself is filled with hydrochloric acid to a level which keeps SCP-682 fully submerged and incapacitated. It has been observed that SCP-682 has a set of filtering gills within its nostrils, which remove usable matter from any liquid solution. This makes it possible for it to constantly regenerate from the acid it is contained in. It should be noted that SCP-682 has been seen moving and speaking with its body 87% destroyed and/or rotted.
In observation, SCP-682 has proven extremely intelligent, even having engaged in complex communication with SCP-079 during their limited time of exposure.
SCP-682 has extremely high strength, speed, and reflexes, that can vary with its form. Any attempts of SCP-682 to move, speak, or breach containment, are reacted to quickly and with full force. It is forbidden for Personnel to speak to the creature, for fear of provoking it. Additionally, any unauthorized communication with SCP-682 will result in immediate restraint and removal of the offender(s).
In case of containment breach, SCP-682 is to be tracked and re-captured by all available Mobile Task Forces, with no teams fewer than seven members will be cleared to engage it. To date, SCP-682 has attempted escape 17 times, and has successfully breached containment 6 times, resulting in countless lives lost.
SCP-682 has been placed in the Keter class, which is designated for anomalies that are exceedingly difficult to contain consistently or reliably, with containment procedures often being extensive and complex. The Foundation often can’t contain these SCPs well, due to a limited understanding of the anomaly, or lack of technology to properly contain or counter it. A Keter SCP does not mean the SCP is dangerous, just that it is simply very difficult or costly to contain. In this case, however, SCP-682 is extremely dangerous.
