Krampus

As we enter the holiday season, we get that warm and cozy feeling, thinking of friends and family, hot chocolate, yummy food, and gifts. For the kids, Santa Claus is a reminder that good boys and girls get rewarded when they’ve behaved all year, and for those of us living in the United States, the worst thing we have to worry about is being put on Santa’s naughty list. However, things are not all happy, cheery, and bright when you get to Europe. Sure, they celebrate in a similar fashion, but Santa’s naughty list is the least of their worries. In Europe, the naughty have to face Krampus.

Christmas Eve Wholaver Murders

On Christmas Eve, 2002, in Middletown Pennsylvania, Scott Wholaver, 28, drove his brother, Ernest Wholaver Jr., 42, to the home of  his estranged wife and his 2 children. Ernest broke into the home and crept into the bedroom of Jean Wholaver, 43, and pulled out his .22 calibre pistol. He shot her in the head.

Charles Lawson: Christmas Family Murder

Christmas, 1929, Charles Lawson murdered his wife and six of his seven children.

Charles Davis Lawson married Fannie Manring in 1911. The couple proceeded to have eight children. Their third child, William, was born in 1914, and died in 1920.

Charles moved his family to Germanton, North Carolina in 1918, when his younger two brothers moved there. They worked as tenant tobacco farmers and saved their money to purchase their own farm in 1927.
