The Ghosts of LaLaurie Mansion

Imagine if you will, being a young girl, a student at an all-girls school in New Orleans, Louisiana. This was a new school, a primary school for young African-American ladies. A place to learn and grow. But unfortunately, that’s not all that would happen. You would be physically assaulted, running to your teacher with your sleeve rolled up, showing your forearm, scratched and bruised. You can’t help but cry, and when the teacher would ask, “Who did this to you?” the only thing you could say was, “That woman.” What woman would do such a thing? Who, or rather what, was in that school? What if I told you, that the school was once known as the LaLaurie Mansion?

The Haunted Millennium Biltmore Hotel

Built in 1922, the Millennium Biltmore Hotel is as iconic as the names that have walked through its doors. Stars like studio head Jack Warner, filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, actress Mary Pickford, and gangsters Al Capone and Bugsy Siegel. The hotel was once the location of the Academy Awards (1928, 1935-1939, 1941-1942). It even operated as a speakeasy during the prohibition era. Some elements of this history still remain, with a recessed spot for hiding liquor in the presidential suite, and a hidden door that helped folks evade police by leading them through a room and out to the streets unnoticed. Today though, the hotel is known for a much different reason. The Millennium Biltmore Hotel is haunted.

The Real Amityville Horror

Imagine this. You just bought a new home for your family. The price was unbelievable, but real, and you quickly move in. But things are not all rainbows and unicorns. You start seeing and hearing things. The air suddenly smells strange, and when a priest comes over, a voice shouts, “Get out!” Less than four weeks later, you have no choice but to abandon your new home, and all your possessions, never to return again. The story of the Amityville House is one many of us have heard. We’ve seen the movies, read the books, discussed the likelihood of whether it’s real or not. One thing we can say for certain, is that the house the Lutz family moved into, did not come without its own history.

The Haunted Tallman Family Bunk Beds

April 13, 1986, Alan and Debby Tallman, along with their three children, moved into their dream house in Horicon, Wisconsin. Horicon is a small farming town, and as of the 2010 census, had a population of only 3,665. Alan was a shift supervisor at a manufacturing plan, and Debby was a stay-at-home mom. They were a churchgoing family, and were enjoying life.

In early February 1987, they purchased a bunk bed at a second-hand shop. They assembled it and stored it in their basement. Within weeks, their children, who had rarely been sick, suddenly were sick all the time. They were in the doctor’s office regularly, sometimes even all three at the same time. That May, they decided to move the bed upstairs, a decision they would later come to regret.
