Relationships are hard. When they don’t work out like we expect, or hope, them to, it’s usually best to cut ties and move on. That’s what the girlfriend of Alexander Spesivtsev tried to do, but he wasn’t so amenable. After the breakup, he decided to kidnap her, lock her in his flat and torture her for three weeks.

The Gainesville Ripper

In August 1990, fear gripped the people of Gainesville, Florida. Students were being killed, mutilated, in their college dorms. Classes were canceled, everyone took to carrying baseball bats with them wherever they went. People slept in shifts and no one went out alone. The Gainesville Ripper was out there. A killer who inspired American screenwriter, Kevin Williamson – the creator of the Scream movie franchise.

Addie Hall, the Queen of Hurricane Katrina

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina swept through the coastal areas of the Gulf Coast states of Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi, USA. One of the hardest locations hit was the city of New Orleans in Louisiana. Labeled a Category 5 storm, Winds In New Orleans gusted over 100mpg (160km/h). In total, the storm killed over 1,800 people and damaged or destroyed 275,000 homes. Addie Hall survived Katrina, but would only live to see one more birthday.
